Crisis of Shelter Shortage Persists for Refugees in Luxembourg
Luxembourg - November 24, 2023
Over the past weekend, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) erected tents for refugees in Hall 7 of LuxExpo. This serves as an interim solution to confront the onset of cold weather. Hall 7 at LuxExpo will accommodate refugees currently housed in makeshift tents at the Tony Rollmann building in Kirchberg.
Hall 7 has a capacity for 600 individuals. Presently, 460 people, including 140 children, reside in the initial reception structure at Tony Rollmann, comprised of tents. The transfer of these individuals to Hall 7 at LuxExpo will commence from next week onwards. They are expected to stay there until the end of January 2024.
